Many people ask me "how on earth did you end up owning a furniture company???" Well... it started with the opportunity to be involved with the home accessories end of a furniture company. After many twists and turns, Jabez Furniture & Design was forged. This could not have happened without the help and care of many wonderful people, particularly two very talented and caring craftsman, Joe and Michael. Now we have a marvelous facility, and a great team.
This is a big jump given most of my previous education. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, I received my BSc (Microbiology), BScN (Nursing), and BSc Pharm (Pharmacy) degree from the U of A. Business experience was intermingled within these 12 years of University (whenever I got burned out by higher education). This included a year of Certified Management Accounting, and stints in sales with Sears, Jafra Cosmetics and the Renaissance Hotel. To add to this mix, I earned a Chef Certificate from the Dubrulle Culinary School in Vancouver. I guess you could describe me as a constant learner and over-achiever. What can I say - change and growth excite me! Being involved with this company is a far cry from all my previous experiences; this whole endeavor is a new phase in my life. My previous focus on logic and science has changed to design and creativity.
