With an interest in sports and the arts I attended The University of Victoria to apply myself in all the good things post secondary has to offer. Taking Visual Arts and Education, teaching was in the cards until I heard of a program at the BC Center of Wood Products Design established to educate designers in production furniture. Three years under the Toronto Designer/Craftsman Michael Fortune and it was off to work with graduate David Stryck producing commercial and residential furniture.

In 2000 I founded my own company, selling contemporary furniture and accessories of my own designs on-line and for retail sales. Not long after, I found myself at the right place at the right time to meet Ann Sexsmith and fellow Designer/Craftsman Joe Edwards to be part of the vision for a high-end furniture operation. Jabez Furniture & Design has been my home ever since, and I have been involved in most aspects from designing and drawing, to fabrication and finishing.

Furniture is my way of blending creativity with reality. Designing entails an understanding of the spatial, logical, practical, functional, structural, visual, ethical, financial, material and spiritual aspects of our lives. Whether it is production work or a custom piece, I involve all these things to create the best products I can.

"It is not enough to make things of beauty; they must also be good. A good object not only does the job, but also contains humor and love. A good object renders its service with grace." - Philippe Starck
